CONTEST WINNER - TRACEY PRESTON

Please welcome Tracy Preston, Author Spotlight contest winner!

In November this year, I held a contest on Jenny Gilliam's blog page to win an Author Spotlight. Many authors entered the contest - which was to leave me a comment with their name and current book title - and I would like to thank them all for taking an interest in The Romance eBooks Newsletter.

I chose Tracy's winning comment because of her honesty. We all need help with promotion, epecially if it's our first release, which is the main reason I set up The Romance eBooks myspace profile in February 2008. Since then, promotion for authors has progressed with speed to blog interviews and then to The Romance eBooks Newsletter.

So now, I'd like to congratulate Tracy on her chance to jump the Author Spotlight queue and make this page her own. Over to you, Tracy ...

Let me begin by saying I hope everyone had a fantastic Holiday Season, chocked full of family and fun! As for me, what better way to kick off 2009 than by being featured in the author's spotlight here in the Romance eBooks Newsletter.

I am a newly published author, and my first book was recently released by The Wild Rose Press. Destiny's Captive, a full-length, Regency period historical, is the first in a three part series called The Destiny Series. It is the story of a young girl who finds herself thrown into a treacherous world of espionage and murder, and into the seductive arms of the most infuriatingly stubborn man she's ever met, who also happens to be a pirate...well, sort of.

While Destiny's Captive has only been out for a few weeks, I couldn't be happier with the feedback I've been getting from reviewers and readers alike.

Now that my first book has been released, I've been busy working on the second book in the Destiny Series, Destiny's Mistress. I have also begun laying the groundwork for a contemporary paranormal series that I've been having a blast working with. Needless to say, I have several irons in the fire, and it is my sincerest hope that readers will keep an eye out for my work in the new year!

Warmest Wishes to All, Tracy Preston

Destiny's Captive

Blurb: Angeline Montgomery’s father is mysteriously murdered, forcing her to flee her home in New York and seek the shelter of her estranged family in England. When her ship is attacked by pirates, her dangerous curiosity reveals their captain is a high-ranking English noble. Astounded by the truth, she is taken captive by the suspicious, dark-eyed lord.

Lucian DeLattimer’s job is to pillage foreign cargo vessels beneath the cloak of the dreaded Jolly Roger. Discovering a beautiful spy aboard his latest conquest is not nearly as unsettling as his unwanted desire for the infuriating female who takes over his bed and his thoughts. When temptation ignites passion, they discover something neither dreamed possible.

But will they survive the deadly truth of her father’s scandalous past, or will it mean their imminent destruction?

Review: Destiny's CaptiveWRDF Reviews "Top Pick!"

"This story was fascinating from the first word to the last. The love these two characters share is extraordinary as is the entire book. I was completely captivated in the intricate tale Ms. Preston weaves between these pages. An amazing and purely magnificent work of literary art." -Terri Ann Armstrong, WRDF Reviews

Excerpt: His astute gaze shifted as he sensed movement in the corner of the room. There, poised to strike out with her jeweled dagger, was the most enticing woman he’d ever laid eyes upon. Gleaming honey tresses fell freely over her shoulders and down her back, probably freed from their restraints by her vigorous attempt at valiance. She visibly tensed when he took a step toward her. Fleetingly, he thought that she might really attempt to fight him off. It might be fun to let her try. He took closer stock of her lovely face. Beautifully sculpted features graced a flawless complexion—flawless except for the hint of freckles dusting across the bridge of her finely shaped nose. His grandmother would have berated this young woman for allowing the sun to tarnish her skin. By her estimation, it just wasn’t seemly for a girl to expose her skin to so much sunlight. Pasty, pale complexions were all the rage in London. Lucian, however, found her coloring most appealing.. He thought she looked healthy and vibrant. His gaze locked with hers. Her eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue, a subdued aquamarine. He could not deny she was enchanting, standing there as she was, poised to fight like one of Odin’s mythical valkyries."Stay back. I’m not afraid to run this blade right through your heart."She threatened with a confidence he was certain she did not feel, and so he took another step toward her."You haven’t the will nor the strength to kill me, little one," he said, his voice deep and soothing, his tone arrogantly sure. She took a step forward as if to assure him of her lethal intent, the dagger still clasped tightly in her trembling hand. She tilted her chin defiantly. "Underestimating me could prove to be a fatal error on your part."He knew if he didn’t defuse the situation quickly, she was going to end up harming herself. Pasting a sardonic smile to his lips, he deliberately allowed his dark eyes to rake slowly over her body.He taunted her with an incredulous chuckle. "What makes you think you can succeed where so many others have failed? You are just a woman, and a scrawny one at that." Rage glittered in her bright eyes as she lunged at him with the dagger aimed straight for his heart. He easily sidestepped the blow, at the same time grabbing her wrist and knocking the blade from her grasp, leaving it to fall uselessly to the floorboards with a heavy clank. "That will be enough of that, my lady."

With less than gentle movements, he carelessly tossed his burden over one shoulder and began moving towards the outer corridor. Displaying the unrestrained behavior of a wild animal caught in a trap, she kicked her feet and pounded frantically at his back. She struggled, yelling feverishly, "Put me down you big barbarian. You uncivilized savage! Let me go this instant, or be assured I will make you pay dearly."

"And exactly how will I pay, little one?" he challenged, more than a little impressed by her foolish display of bravery. When she continued to squirm and claw, he smacked her bottom with a loud whack.

"You’ll pay for this. You shall pay with your life. By all that is holy, I swear it!"

He chuckled in response. But just as he reached the entrance to Captain Warner’s quarters he felt a sharp pain just below his shoulder. With several grumbled curses he dropped his hostage unceremoniously onto the captain’s bunk.

"You bit me!" He stared at her, bewildered, trying to decide if she were daft. Whatever the case, he had to gain control of the situation immediately. "If you do not abstain from your childish tantrums, I am going to wring your lovely neck with my own two hands."

HARLEQUIN SPECIAL GUEST- CHRISTINA HOLLIS

CHRISTINA HOLLIS

Christina Hollis was born a few miles from Georgian Bath in England. She began writing from the moment she could hold a pencil. Her vivid imagination was an asset in English lessons at school, but didn’t go down too well in science studies.

After leaving school she worked as a clerical assistant in the financial sector, and later as a gopher in the marketing department. This was followed by a short stint as a technical librarian. She spent all her spare time writing, with some success. She met her husband on a blind date, and after a whirlwind romance they married six months later. It was his idea that she should take up writing full time. Freelance work for national magazines and newspapers followed, and six of her historical novels were published by Harlequin Mills and Boon under the pen name of Polly Forrester.

After a long break to raise a family, Christina took a refresher course in creative writing led by the Welsh poet Paul Groves. It worked, and in January 2007 her first Modern Romance, The Italian Billionaire’s Virgin was published by Harlequin Mills and Boon. Since then she has written non-stop, producing several more books and an associated website, http://www.christinahollis.com/

Her recent paperback releases include Count Giovanni’s Virgin and One Night in His Bed. The Ruthless Italian’s Inexperienced Wife has recently been released, both as a paperback and an ebook:

From virgin nanny – to the boss’s bride! Nanny Cheryl Lane has been summoned to Tuscany by billionaire Marco Rossi. His ruthless, brooding reputation precedes him. Marco Rossi has hired Cheryl to look after his orphaned nephew. But little does he realise that he’s employed such a ripe young beauty; she may try to hide her luscious curves beneath a dowdy uniform, but Marco’s no fool… The desire to unbutton the prim Miss Lane is so tempting – and he could never resist a challenge…

Christina’s next book is called Her Ruthless Italian Boss:

Beth Woodbury thinks she’s put the past behind her. Until she discovers her new boss is ruthless Italian Luca Francesco! Beth has to beg his forgiveness for the past. She needs this job! Luca lets her stay on one condition: she’ll assist him in the day – and warm his bed at night! And this time there’ll be no talk of marriage…or babies… But soon Beth is pregnant – with her formidable boss’s heir!

Her Ruthless Italian Boss will be released in February 2009 as both a Harlequin Presents paperback and in ebook format.

When she isn’t writing, Christina loves pottering in the garden and grows a lot of home-grow fruit and vegetables. These come in useful for her other hobby, cooking. In 2008 she passed her basic beekeeping test, the first step toward producing honey as well as helping this endangered species and improving pollination around her garden.

Christina Hollis loves discovering the many ways attraction can develop into love. As her heroes and heroines discover things about one another they find out things about themselves, too. Hidden hurts and deeply buried disappointments can’t always be cured, but everything improves when it is touched by love.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - PAMELA THIBODEAUX

PAMELA THIBODEAUX

I've always been an avid reader, from Dr. Seuss before school age, to Walter Farley's "Black Stallion" series as a preteen, then on to romance where I found my passion. Mainstream, contemporary, historical...it did not matter. If it was a romance, I read it! They say 'don't judge a book by its cover' but I refused to listen...if it looked good, I read it.

One day while pregnant with my daughter I flung the book I currently attempted to devour in disgust and muttered, "I can do better than that!" I'm still not sure if the book was really that bad or if I merely had a hormonal moment, but thus began my writing journey. That incident occurred more than twenty-five years ago and I must say I, as an author as well as a human being, have evolved a great deal in a quarter of a century.

In 1989 I recommitted my life to Christ and committed my writing to Him and my focus changed from “just another romance” to something that would change hearts, impact lives and give Him glory. Today I have 5 full-length novels and 3 (soon to be 4) short stories that reflect this commitment.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW - LEE MORRISON

LEE MORRISON
...........................

1. Hi Lee! Happy New Year! What do you have planned for 2009?

Hi Debby! Happy New Year to you also! I hope it's a good one for you. As for me, I've got several projects planned.I'm entertaining a new paranormal story based on some requests I've had to expand BEWITCHED BY FATE. Lucas and Ashley made some friends withreaders, and it seems that people would like to revisit Leto Island andfollow their lives a bit more. That just warms my heart because I reallyliked them too.I'm also making a move from my apartment to a house coming up in January. I know it's a cold time of year to move, but the house was just too greatto pass up, and I'm looking forward to having more space!Getting through the spring term at school will keep me pretty busy also, but you can bet I'll still find time for my writing.

2. Of course you'll have time for writing :). So what exactly do Lucas and Ashley get up to in 'Bewitched by Fate' that has bewitched your readers?

Well, it's more about how Lucas and Ashley go about their courtship that was rather unique. They met in their dreams. You see, Lucas is a warlock, and Ashley is a witch.

After Lucas' beloved wife, Kaitra, passed away, he became angry at the fates. Not only did he feel that his own magical gifts had caused him aggravated cruelty, but he cursed the talents he'd been given because he'd been able to foresee the future, and had known well in advance that his wife was going to die--and there was nothing he could do to change it.

Because of knowing in advance that his wife would die, he felt robbed of the beauty of what their natural relationship would have been, and instead had experienced a dark cloud looming in their future, fearing and dreading her death for the last years they had together, and unable to save her.

When Kaitra died, Lucas turned his back on his heritage, his fame as a gifted warlock, and along with it, his homeland--Leto Island (Leto Island is a self-sustaining island that exists in the center of the black hole of the universe and is unknown to humans.), retreating to Earth with his daughter, and vowing to protect her from the pain that magic could cause.

The fates, however, had other plans, and after several years of seclusion, Lucas and Ashley, through no plan of their own, began meeting in their dreams. And oh, what dreams those were! For Lucas, the pull toward this unknown woman was powerful, but also unwanted.

The complications that arise from this situation turn Lucas' life upside down. To make matters worse, Lucas catches his daughter using her own powers one day, and realizes that, as a responsible parent, he had a duty to teach her and guide her with how to use her gifts properly. As a result of this realization, he agrees to take her to Leto Island for the annual Halloween Festival where she can attend workshops, enjoy various activities, and get to know her heritage again in order to understand how she must learn to control her gifts.

What he didn't count on, of course, was coming face to face with the gorgeous woman from his dreams. It was bad enough to feel the searing burn from their spiritual meetings haunt him day and night, but experiencing the power of her presence in reality was absolutely shocking.

3. Do you have any good reviews for 'Bewitched by Fate'?

Sure. Here are some links to reviews for Bewitched By Fate: (More on my website at http://www.leemorrison.org/)

http://www.nightowlromance.com/nightowlromance/reviews/Review.asp?ReviewId=760

http://longandshortreviews.blogspot.com/2007/10/review-bewitched-by-fate.html

4. Where can this book be purchased from?

Bewitched By Fate is a short story that can be purchased at The Wild Rose Press. This story is available electronically, but if you're interested in holding a book in your hands, Life Begins In Arizona, was released in September, and has also been receiving some great reviews, like the one from The Romance Studio, which you can read at this link: http://www.theromancestudio.com/reviews/reviews/arizonamorrison.htm
I loved writing both stories, but they are very different from each other. I think having the freedom to explore various genres is one of the things I love most about writing.

5. What inspired you to become an author?

I remember being creative from the time I was in elementary school. The writing has just always been a part of who I am.

If I had to place credit anywhere, it would be with my parents, but especially my mother, who always made sure I had books to read. I wrote my first (embarrassing) story at age eight, but it wasn't really until I was a teenager that I considered writing on a larger scale than just my own ramblings.

One time my mother read something I'd written, and commented that I should send it in to a magazine. She said she'd always wanted to write but felt she didn't have the required patience to complete a project from beginning to end. Little did she know that many years later it would be those words that carried me through to completing my own novel when the tendency to call it quits set in. What she'd done, in effect, was to validate my feelings. Just knowing she'd experienced the same thing I had was enough to help me over the hurdle when the time came. I was blessed in that both my parents encouraged me to reach for my dreams, but it was really my mother, and what she did for me, combined with my own desire to touch people on a personal level, that lit a flame for the writing. It wasn't really any one moment, but a series of evolving events that began with my mother as the foundation. Sounds corny, but there you have it. :)

6. Do you have a writing tip for any aspiring authors out there?

Perseverance. Be disciplined in your writing time, and diligent in following your goals. Hang out at online writing forums if you can (but don't let it eat up your writing time...). Participate in workshops. Join a local writing group, whether it's RWA, or some other type of learning based writing group. Everyone is pressed for time these days, but even if you squeeze in a workshop or a meeting once a month, you'll be surprised at the progress you've made toward writing and publishing when a year has passed by. The time is going to pass anyway, so why not do something with it?

Network with other authors, beginners and experienced alike. Both will be supportive and provide learning opportunities, and best of all---you'll make some great friends along the way. I think even the most seasoned writer, if he/she is humble enough, would agree that just like life, writing is an ongoing learning experience. There's always room for improvement no matter what level you're at, so keep a positive attitude and never give up on yourself.

7. Where would you like your writing career to be in ten years time?

I'd like to be able to write at least three more books for ideas I've already had, and maybe see about four or five new books published as well.

8. Why inspires you to write paranormal romance?

I like being able to explore creatively. :) It's all fiction, but what fun!

9. Would you consider trying a different genre?

Absolultely. I've already written a novella titled Accidental Fate, and a novel titled Life Begins In Arizona. Accidental Fate is a sweet contemporary novella available at The Wild Rose Press, and Life Begins In Arizona is a contemporary romance novel available both digitally through The Wild Rose Press, and in print at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or any of your favorite book sellers.

Life Begins In Arizona addresses the critical issue of domestic abuse. I know that pairing this topic with romance is a bit uncommon, but it's had great reviews, and I enjoyed the challenge of writing it.

If you like, you can read the reviews and an excerpt on my website. The Romance Studio gave it five hearts!

Life Begins In Arizona is about Claire, a very capable and intelligent woman who found herself to be the victim of domestic violence. She was strong enough to overcome it and begin again, but she also had to reach deep within herself to find the answers to how it all happened, and then work with herself to allow the scars to heal so she could move forward.

I wanted to show that, while domestic violence is pervasive and ugly, it can also happen to anyone. Beyond that, I also wanted to show that there is hope for those who find themselves in this situation, and that it's possible to pull out of it and move forward.

Claire is a great example of starting over in life.

Life Begins In Arizona is available in both digital form, as well as in print.

10. And finally, where can we find out more about you?

At my website. :) The address is http://www.leemorrison.org/

It's been wonderful chatting with you Debby. Thanks so much for the opportunity to talk about my work. Have a great New Year, and I hope 2009 brings you and all of our friends peace and happiness!

Life Begins In Arizona. Available from The Wild Rose Press.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW - JENNY GILLIAM

1. Hi Jenny. Happy New Year! What are your plans for 2009?
I have lots and lots of plans career-wise for 2009. I'm changing my writing name from Jenny Gilliam (my real name) to Piper Foxx. I've started a three-novella-book of erotic romance. I call it the "Getting" series. In order: GETTING EVEN (halfway done already), GETTING LUCKY, and GETTING PAID (working title). I will still continue to write spicy contemporaries and steaming romantic suspense novels, but I'm trying my hand at erotic fiction. And I have to say, I'm VERY excited about it. Wait. That came out wrong.
I also plan to continue writing short stories for my e-publisher/s, but my major goal of 2009 is to procure an agent. I'd like to sell to New York ("Traitor!" they screamed.) my full-length novels and novellas, so that's where my energy is focused on right now.

2. Piper Foxx is catchy and sounds fantastic! Were you advised to change your name or was the choice your own?
The choice was mine. I wrote down a bunch of given and surnames I liked and picked from the bunch. Not terribly intellectual, I'm afraid.

3. What made you want to change from writing contemporary fiction to erotic fiction?
Well, my novels have always leaned toward the spicy side. Erotic romance seemed like the most sensible jump. I'll still write contemporaries, of course, but I'm supplementing it with my erotica.

3. What made you want to change from writing contemporary fiction to erotic fiction?
Well, my novels have always leaned toward the spicy side. Erotic romance seemed like the most sensible jump. I'll still write contemporaries, of course, but I'm supplementing it with my erotica.

4. Tell us about 'Getting Even'.

Getting Even is my first erotic romance. It's the first in a three-part series that takes place in Cozumel, Mexico. Basically, Paige St. John (our heroine) is on vacation with her fiance in Cozumel when she catches him with another woman. To make things stickier, the "one that got away," her ex-husband owns the resort where she's staying. So, Paige decides to 'get even' with her fiance by using her ex-husband for sex. However, she doesn't count on falling back in love with him.

5. Who will be the lucky publisher to publish the 'Getting' series?
Originally and hopefully, I'll sub to Brava. I'd like to try my hand in print. But if that falls through, I'd like to try Ellora's Cave or my own publisher/s, Amira Press or The Wild(er) Rose Press

6. When do you hope to get the 3rd novel complete?
The goal is by Spring, but we'll see. I've got a lot on my plate right now.

7. Are you giving yourself a strict regime to write, or will you just write at your leisure?
Right now, I'm just trying to survive (nasty holiday season, family problems). Once I get back into my groove, I have a strict schedule of when I write. I even wrote out a schedule. Scary.

8. Well, that's good to hear, because I've seen some fantastic reviews for your current release' The Truth About Roxy'! Have you built up a fan base?
Well, from the royalty checks rolling in, I'd say I'm known in SMALL internet circles. LOL. I'd like to think I have a fan base that will continue to grow. Isn't that what every author wishes for?

9. What made you decide to publish your books with more than one publisher?
Rejection. My first publisher didn't like Letting Luce, and a friend of mine had success and good things to say about Amira, so I decided to give it a shot. The same thing happened with Under My Skin. No offense to the good folks over at TWRP, but I'm extremely happy at Amira.

10. Finally, any New Year tips for writers wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Keep on writing. Even when the writing--or life, as I've discovered--gets tough.

THE EDGE OF HONOR
a historical romance by Minnette Meador
Sequel to The Centurion & The Queen

The Boudicca revolt has been squelched, the tribes of the Iceni and the Trinovantes have been exterminated by the Roman Governor of Britannia, Suetonius. He has sworn his revenge on the remaining tribes for the Celtic insolence. Marius and Delia are now King and Queen of a broken Celtic tribe, and Marius has to use all his skill and cunning to help his hunted people as they flee before General Suetonius' sword. Reluctantly donning the mask of the liberatio mysticus, the “phantom” that hides the scattered tribes, the couple recruits Marius' ex-Roman century and what few Celtic warriors that remain to face the deadly Roman machine. They struggle to keep their people together and prevent the rest of a nation from fading into history. But they are threatened by secret plots, jealousy, and a new enemy that hammers a wedge between them, a wedge that even an unborn child may not be able to dislodge when Marius falls under the charms of Delia's sworn enemy. Sacrifices will have to be made to save their people, to keep the nation together, to survive the Roman rage. In the end, it may be more than their love or their lives they lose.

SHORT STORY - RENDEZVOUS

‘RENDEZVOUS’

By Debby Allen

“One café noir, Sir.” Dana placed a single black coffee down upon the tabletop and dutifully smiled.
Her customer folded his newspaper symmetrically in half, and then removing his sunglasses, glanced up at her with gratitude. “Thank you.”
“Would you like any sugar?” she asked, wafting away a wasp set on tasting the sweet pot of temptation.
“No. No, thank you,” he frowned, as the insect flew angry spirals around his head. “Perhaps sachets of sugar would be best suited on the terrace, don’t you think?” His accent revealed a strong French dialect, but his English language was perfect.
“My sentiments, exactly, but my manager insists…” Dana paused. She really shouldn’t disrespect her employer to a complete stranger. “I… er… am not in a position to comment on that, Sir.”
“Ah, employee regulations.” He stirred his coffee. “So, tell me,” he continued, taking a quick glimpse at her name badge, “what are the restrictions for waitresses working here, Dana?”
“Restrictions?” she repeated, slowly.
“Regarding customer requirements.”
Dana raised her eyebrows in surprise and wiped her hands upon her apron. “I’m sorry. I don’t understand what you mean.” Or did she clearly understand what he meant? Rendezvous Bar and Café had gained a reputation over the past two years. Dining alone at this popular bistro had never been unusual - at least, not if you were in search of a romantic encounter. The purpose of napkins here, more than anything else, was to simply scribble someone’s phone number or address on the back of. But times had changed, and now there was more on offer. Perhaps this very handsome, continental businessman, dressed in a very smart suit, was here for more than just a chat.
“Oh… no,” Dana stammered, promptly standing upright. “I don’t do… that.”
“You don’t do what?” he repeated, amused by her hesitance. “
“I don’t get involved… with customer requirements.” She glanced down at his wedding finger. A paler band of skin was visible where a golden band of wedlock should have been. Had he removed it for her purpose?
“Isn’t it policy that the customer is always right?” he persisted, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Yes, but…”
“Then my welfare should be your priority,” he sighed, dodging the wasp on its determined return.
“My skills as a waitress are my priority for you, Sir. My personal ones are not.”
“They’re not? Do you think the owner of this bistro would agree with you on that?”
“A high standard of service is what’s required…”
“And that involves my welfare!” he firmly stated as he lifted the newspaper, rolling it into a swat. Dana stood silently at his side, her mouth ajar with disbelief. “If you require personal skills from a waitress,” she finally responded, “then I’ll send Katrina over with the bill. She will see that you get the service you require.”
He shook his head. “A good waitress should always be loyal to her customers. How else is she to receive a generous tip?” Agitated, he threw the newspaper upon the table. “Do you often do this with your customers?”
What on earth was he referring to now - her personal services or her skills as a waitress? “ If a customer was unhappy with me...”
“And are they ever unhappy with you?” He raised a disapproving eyebrow.
Glancing nervously around, Dana stepped away from his side. “I’ve had no complaints, yet.” Who did this arrogant aristocrat think he was, questioning her so intensely? “Look, I’m very sorry that I don’t meet with your customer requirements. I’m just not that kind of woman. And I feel insulted that you would even think that I would…”
He glanced at her and frowned, “would what?”
“Rendezvous with you just because of… As I said, I’ll send Katrina over with the bill and you can make some kind of… arrangement with her. Now, if that’s all, Sir...”
“That’s not all!” he cut in, sternly. “I wish to see the manager.”
“The manager? About what? Is it the coffee?” Dana really hoped it was.
“Am I speaking in a foreign language to you?” His eyes narrowed at her. Could it be a bruised ego that had changed his attitude?
“No, you are speaking perfect English, Sir.”
“So, are you refusing a customer request, then?”
“No, I…”
“Then find me the manager, now!”
With quick steps, Dana trotted inside, her hand against her thudding chest. Once through the door, she didn’t have to look far for the coward of a manager. He had been watching through the window all the time. His lanky figure paced over to her. “What’s wrong?”
Catching her breath, she shakily replied. “I am being harassed by a customer. What are you going to do about it? Because if I have to go out there again, I swear, I will throw his café noir all over his head!”
The manager caught her by her arm, startling her. “You’ll do no such thing,” he growled. Wide-eyed, Dana stared at him as he continued. “That man is Luc Devereaux and he pays our wages! Now, get back out there and give him what he wants before he fires the lot of us!”
She tugged back her arm and had much pleasure in announcing Luc’s request. “He sent me in to get you!” Watching her manager stalk outside, Dana felt satisfaction at his comeuppance. But the shock of her discovery left her with palpitations at the outcome of their meeting. She couldn’t afford to lose her job.
The click of fingers distracted her, as another customer demanded her bill. Hands trembling, Dana pulled the receipt from her apron pocket and passed it over, only for it to be snatched ignorantly from her hand. It was no wonder that this woman had dined alone today. Rendezvous Bar and Cafe was famous for it’s coupling of strangers, but some people needed more than fate on their side. Some, like herself, required miracles, but as Dana had discovered, they didn’t exist.
Her customer, of course, left without leaving a tip, muttering some complaint about waitresses flirting with customers. So much for Luc’s advice on dedication.
Clearing away the crockery, attempts to overhear their conversation was drowned by the traffic as it passed by in the mid afternoon rush. The discussion came in dribs and drabs of sentences lost here and there. She’s got what I need, she heard him say. Send her to me on your way back in. Luc’s voice had been reprimanding. It was clear Dana was in for a scolding for refusing his advances. But he had no right to harass her just because of his position in the business, and she would tell him so… and threaten to take him to court for unfair dismissal, if need be.
“Sit down,” he commanded of her. Before she could even straighten her skirt, his interrogation began. “How long have you worked here?”
Making herself as comfortable as she could under the circumstances, Dana took a deep breath. “Five years. But that does not give you the right…”
He held up his hand to silence her. “This kind of conduct is not acceptable at my bistro’s in France. ”
Was he speaking of her outspokenness?
“English women would do well to use French ladies as role models,” he continued.
“Oh, please!” laughed Dana. “You may be my boss and you may be rich and handsome...”
“Handsome?” he cut in with a grin. “You think so?”
Dana pursed her lips. He was mocking her. She made an attempt to continue. “But all of that does not give you the right…”
“To make you manager of this bistro?” he interrupted, a smug smile upon his face. “Oh, but I think it gives me that right, entirely.”
Speechless, she watched as Luc silently enjoyed the shock he had just bestowed upon her. “Manager?” she whispered.
“Did you have something else in mind?”
Embarrassed, Dana lowered her head. “I thought you were here for romance,” she murmured. “This bistro has become a popular pick-up joint since…”
“So I gather,” he noted, disapprovingly. “I see it has lost a little bit of class. Perhaps you could bring back a little French respectability and style to the place.”
A wide smile spread across Dana’s face. “I think I could do that.”
“Think?” Luc responded. “A manager has to be sure of herself and confident at all times.”
“In that case, I know I could bring back a little French respectability and style to the place,” she nodded enthusiastically. “And sachets of sugar. They shall be used on the terrace at all times.”
“A simple solution to a very annoying problem,” he approved. “You do realise it would also mean a lot of extra hours for you.”
“Oh, that’s ok. I can put in the hours. I’m not married or anything.”
Luc leaned his elbows on the table. “Or anything?”
Dana shuffled, embarrassed at her confession. “I’m not in a relationship,” she mumbled, averting his deep stare. “So I can give you all the hours you need.”
His eyes burned into her but she had nothing to be ashamed of. The right man just hadn’t come along yet. She promptly glanced up at Luc – or had he?
She immediately shook the thought away. He was a married man, even if he did try to disguise the fact.
“So, I won’t be wearing that café noir upon my head if I offer to take you out tonight… just to clarify your role in the Devereaux business, of course?”
Dana glanced again at the pale band of skin upon his left hand. His eyes followed her.
“Ah, you are a quick thinker, Dana, and very observant. Two of the attributes of becoming a good manager.” For a moment, they held each other’s stare. Intense, chocolate coloured iris’s stared back at her.
“I am a widower,” he informed her. “Today, I realised it is time to move on.”
“Today?” she whispered.
“About twenty minutes ago,” he nodded, “when a beautiful waitress came to my table and served me.”
Dana lowered her eyes and pushed her hair behind her ears.
“How is it,” he persisted, “that a stunning woman, such as yourself, remains unattached?”
She sat up straight, accepting the compliment with grace. “Perhaps I choose my men wisely.”
“And what is your preference?”
“Oh, you know, dark, rich and handsome… a little like yourself,” she teased.
“I can see the resemblance,” he grinned. “So, perhaps you will do me the honour of dining with me this evening and allow someone else be the waitress tonight.”
“I could do that,” Dana responded with excitement. How long had it been since she had been wined and dined?
“We could go dancing. I hear a new club has opened up in the high street.”
Dana giggled. “I thought this was a business arrangement?”
“I’m planning for the future. I would say that was a business arrangement, wouldn’t you?”
Silently, Dana smiled. If Luc was in her future as well, she had a lot to look forward to.
“Then, I will pick you up at seven-thirty.” Luc passed her a pen, and like many other strangers before her that day, Dana scribbled her address on the back of a napkin. For years, she had watched on in envy as so many other couples had found love at the Rendezvous Bar and Café. But today, it had been her turn – her turn to meet a very handsome man and her turn to find romance.
Folding her details over, he placed them in the left breast pocket of his jacket, next to his heart. Standing tall, he kissed the back of her hand. “Remember, after working hours, you are no longer my employee –you are my date.”
Dana rose to her feet and glanced up at him. Could he feel her quivering with excitement as he held onto her hand? “And you are no longer my employer, Monsieur. Devereaux.”
“And that is why I promoted you, Dana” he smiled mischievously. “I sense our working relationship will be very…passionate.”She watched as Luc strolled away, the man who had just turned her life around in the space of half an hour. Luc Devereaux, the dark, rich and handsome man she’d been waiting for, had just walked into her life. And Dana couldn’t wait to hang up her apron, and start living!

'The office Christmas party can be a recipe for disaster! Free wine at the latest work festivities has left lovely Leah Stamford in the dark… especially about that night and a certain Marcus Savakis. Still, she can brush off office gossip...or can she?It seems this office party kicked off events she never remembered agreeing to. Complicating issues is the inescapable memory lapse, the incriminating tie on her bed, and Marcus, himself.

Marcus–cheerful, flippant, handsome and more notably, a co-worker. Is he as good as his word...or is he manipulating her? As soon as she swears off wine forever, there he is, insisting on buying her another. And, what to do about the holidays now? Leah is faced with a conundrum, and the pressure of all the giggly girls in the office doesn’t help.

Oh decisions; leap into the big, traditionally Greek Christmas via Marcus' invitation-–or celebrate the holidays most thoroughly alone? Are you kidding? Manipulative or not, you’ll be jumping up and down as she packs her bags--and that is barely the beginning! Never mind the Athenian skyline, the hot mulled cider, the glitter off the wave tops; the whole, mesmerizing Mediterranean world...Because this holiday adventure has barely gotten started! I am desperately censoring myself here, as there is so much more I’d like to mention, but the revelations are half the fun.

Do read! 4.5 books for this completely charming Christmas romance. Allen got this recipe just perfect: Wonderful characters, delightful descriptions, and exactly the right amount of mistletoe!!'

REVIEWED BY: Cocktail Reviews:
Ashleigh is on a Mediterranean holiday with her friend Laura. She’s intending to use the break to get over a failed office romance with her boss – a married man. When Laura spots an expensive yacht at a local harbour, Ashleigh only has eyes for the hot guy on board. But while her friend urges her to enjoy a holiday romance, Ashleigh is afraid of being hurt again. Remmao is half Egyptian, half Arab, a wealthy playboy who used to have a woman in every port until a bad experience left him emotionally damaged and extremely cautious. But Ashleigh intrigues him – he’s never had to chase a woman before, and he’s determined to track her down. While both are ready for a physical relationship, their emotions keep getting in the way. Only by learning to let go of the past and trusting one another will they find a future together.

This was a great novella-length read. I loved the underplayed humour, such as Ashleigh’s embarrassment at being caught ogling Remmao on his yacht. I also enjoyed Ashleigh’s first proper conversation with him. It’s cute and breathless, and I liked the sly dig at the romance novel genre of ‘every Egyptian/Arab is a prince’.

Ashleigh is a strong character. I like the fact that she doesn’t hide or sugar-coat the truth of what she did in the past – she admits she was in the wrong with her affair. You can really feel her anger and guilt – and her fear of being hurt so easily again.

Remmao is a true romance hero, but with a modern slant. He’s open about his feelings, and while he encourages Ashleigh to forgive herself and move on, he continues to hold onto his own secret – a lesson he learned a year ago and which still haunts him.Like a short version of a M&B/Harlequin title, Hibiscus Bay delivers on all fronts with an exotic locale, wealthy foreign hunk, a good dose of angst, enjoyable love scenes and a HEA. Formulaic? Yes, of course. But that’s why I love them so much. I’d recommend this to any fan of the genre.

'Hibiscus Bay' REVIEWED BY: Simply Romance Reviews
GRADE: 'A' REVIEW:

I can honestly say, while reading Hibiscus Bay, I was touched by the beautiful twist of fate for Ashleigh and Remmao. This is the kind of romance we all dream of. Ashleigh's main goal on her vacation was to erase the last three years of her past relationship with Richard (ex-lover/ex-boss and married). She never expected fate to intervene and send her the love she has always dreamed of having. Remmao (dashing and sexy) never had much time for true lasting relationships since he consistently sails around the world. Suddenly, he is locking eyes with Ashleigh after her sunglasses fall onto the deck of his yacht and its' kismet!! Throughout the story, Ashleigh and Remmao find themselves freeing all the emotional pain from the past and learning once again the meaning of trust, promises and love.

Debby Allen captured so many heartwarming emotions of both her characters. The story inspires the reader to wish for Hibiscus Bay and a pair of sunglasses.......wonderful job Debby!! ~ Reviewed by Mireille

'Roses for Rachel' by Dianne Miley.
Reviewer: Andrea at 'Between The Lines'

Rachel Santos has been on an emotional rollercoaster and has been very badly hurt in the past. She has two small daughters to bring up on her own and there is no way she is ever again going to get involved with a man.
To Rachel, Elliot Truman is just a work colleague but he would like to be more. He loves Rachel and her children ... will he breach her defences?
This book is so well written you can identify with Rachel. You can feel her emotions: sometimes she's happy, sometimes sad; sometimes she's frightened because there is someone out there who hates her and wants her to die. She has a loving family who would dearly love to help and protect her but she is stubborn and determined to 'go it alone'.
The writer has given us characters who are beautifully drawn and who have real-life problems and a good plot, which twists and turns keeping you guessing right up to the end.
Throughout the book there runs a strong moral thread and that is in keeping with the characters and the story.
This book was a pleasure to read and I suggest that you add it to your 'must read' list.

REVIEWS for For One Night Only
5 Bookmarks: "FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY is a refreshing unique contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was riveted by the characters and read the entire story in one sitting. From the very beginning of the story where Bethany goes to medically check out Ruben, the chemistry and sexual heat is there between them, and sparks fly. Yet you can feel the characters struggles with leaving it as one night only or trying to build a relationship. How does a strong, independent doctor with her own career like Bethany Shaw emotionally build and maintain a relationship with a rock star, a person who is bigger than life, but is just an incredibly sexy man when it is just the two of them. Ruben's life is open to the public and his every move is scrutinized and stalked, could Bethany handle his lifestyle and constant travel, would she want to, and what does she have to give up to be with him. The two travel to Miami and across the world to Paris together to see if there newfound love can work, while at the same time they are stalked by a crazed fan. As Ruben's past transgressions in life catch up with him the story unfolds at an emotional heart stopping pace. I highly recommend this hot steamy love story and I look forward to reading many more stories written by Ms Ryder."

5 Stars: "For One Night Only is a sizzling love story. You could feel the sexual tension between Bethany and Reuben. The characters worked well together and were well-developed. The plot caught my attention and held it to the last word. Great summer reading." -- Anne Boling, Review Your Book4 Stars: "I could really feel Bethany's turmoil as she tries hard not to let the doubts and suspicions creep into her newly found relationship. The sex they share is exhilarating, making you blush. Once the duo meets, the pacing became unstoppable. One thing or the other kept happening until your head is spinning. Ms. Ryder knows how to tell a story and has handled complex emotions like jealousy, envy, infatuation like a pro. I was quite taken with the hurt, confused, and emotionally fragile villain who really deserved something else. Although shaky at times, For One Night Only is indeed a very entertaining mix of spine tingling twists and red-hot loving!"

4 Angels: "For One Night Only is an enjoyable read that features two extremely human characters. Ruben and Bethany are wonderfully imperfect, and it is refreshing to read a story where the hero and heroine have real human foibles. These two like to poke and prod at each other to try to get a reaction, and it frequently ends in blistering sex. The sex is steamy and well-written, and our heroes have fun with it and don't treat it too seriously." The heroine, Jestine Darnell, is setting off on a desperate quest and does not quite know why. Her personal trajectory is impossible to predict, as she soon finds herself in the hands of telepaths – who are telepaths and more. Unsought friendships emerge, but can she trust them? And can that sort of reliance (no matter how good a navigator she is) come to matter among a large starship crew? It doesn’t help that she has to start off with a lie, then wonders if they can see through it.
The Destiny’s crew find her competent, but they have reservations. Kerry and Jon acknowledge her competence, and you will find yourself hoping against hope that they will give her the benefit of the doubt. It is a troubled time; from the Union’s stranglehold on Earth, to the dangerous Grakk spies lurking all over the universe. Even as we hope for her to be accepted, you will feel a thread of doubt yourself. In an amazing way, Lyn will make you identify – even if just a little bit – with almost every character.
Some emotions, like a somewhat shared sense of longing, are common among these people that cannot help but remember, a little sadly, the Earth home they left, long ago. What seems like a minor emotion – a loneliness or regret, becomes surprisingly evocative in this tale.
Ms. Lyn does a great job making surprise characters, like Jaii and other ships’ computers, seem ordinary. And, it’s refreshing that various characters share a sense of pride and enthusiasm in their ships’ capabilities.
Dialogue tends to be to the point and believable. Events become more and more unpredictable as the story moves forward. The backdrop is a universe – a beautifully envisioned universe. It seems rare to find a story with a science fiction bent so beautifully described. Read a little slice:
“… watching the rapidly unfolding vista of stars, like shimmering jewels in the black velvet backcloth that was deep space. There was something about the sheer immensity of the Universe that made her feel very insignificant and, at the same time, very tranquil.”
The lovely, lovely descriptions never slow the action, but manage still to convey emotion and carry the narration forward. This is an incredibly original tale, and – for all the science fiction trappings – is truly a classic quest for love, and the romance, which at first seems very much at the periphery, will become not only a primary motivation, but the chief joy of the tale. Adventure may be the main motif, but the heartwarming side will be a surprising bonus.

'Thorn of Ebon' By Faith Bicknell-Brown

Reviewed by 'Dirty Girl Reviews -5 stars: This book is part of a series, based on three daughters, half human, half fairy. While each book seems to be a standalone title, I would recommend reading the books in order so you have a full understanding of the character’s personality and references to past events.I really enjoyed this book. It was not only well-researched, but well written. Faith managed to (once again) take us on an adventure into the past, to a time where humans and magic coexisted. A time where the Norse gods had more power and when things went wrong we blamed it on the god of mischief, Loki.Freya’s favorite of the three daughters, Loilati was sent on a quest to seek out the Thorn of Ebon, and prevent the Fae races from being killed.. She rides out on a warhorse bred by Thor himself, and in the company of elves and other magical creatures. Along the way, she discovers her hidden power is fire and learns how to control it. This book made me laugh out loud several times, and is packed full of surprises. If you are a fan of fantasy or mythology, you won’t want to miss the Thorn if Ebon.

'An Inconvenient Marriage' by Ruth Ann Nordin.

Ruth Ann Nordin’s recent romantic novel is at heart a love story with a different twist. Instead of the usual conventional elements prevalent in this genre wherein an initial attraction leads to a stirring of romance and a flowering of passion culminating in an exchange of vows, An Inconvenient Marriage: The Keeping Of Jake Mitchell presents an approach with a different twist.
Set in Virginia in 1899, the narrative focuses on two principal characters, Jake Mitchell, a successful banker and confirmed bachelor and Sue Lewis, a feisty spinster who is a very competent librarian and is very well liked by the library’s members.
The story unfolds when Sue is determined to persuade Jake’s bank not to foreclose on her parent’s farm. Day after day Sue returns to the bank to harass its executives to convince them to work something out in order that her parents and siblings will be able to continue to work their farm. However, nothing seems to help- that is, until one day something happens that will forever change her life as well as that of Jake Mitchell.
Jake’s father had recently died and he was named sole beneficiary of a considerable inheritance. However, there were some very important conditions in his father’s will before he could receive his inheritance. He had to marry a woman of the Christian faith and who does honorable work, provided she doesn’t live with her parents. She also had to be a virgin and must be close to her family. On the other hand, he only had to remain married for six months in order to receive his inheritance.
As Jake was a very astute and competent businessman, he proposes to Sue and offers her one half of his inheritance if she would marry him and stay married for six months.
This would be a “win win” situation for both of them, for Sue would not have to marry old man York, who had proposed to her in order to pay off her family’s debts, and Jake would receive his inheritance. Jake also agreed to pay Sue her share on the day they are married.

Sue accepts Jake’s business offer as well as the agreed upon platonic relationship that would ensue between them. However, matters don’t exactly work out the way the couple had initially planned. In fact, Sue, who was always beset by self-doubt, manages to overcome her inadequacy as she is transformed from an unattractive spinster to a beautiful woman. And to the excessive consternation of Jake, Sue captures the attention of every unmarried man in town.
Jake keeps Sue totally in the dark when he intercepts gifts of flowers intended for her from potential suitors. They are all quite aware of the business transaction between Jake and Sue and were willing to wait the six months until the marriage would be annulled.
Adding a little hilarity, Nordin weaves into her story the slapstick tomfoolery of Sue’s siblings who, after accepting Jake into the family, are determined to keep the couple wedded. And as we discover, there were other individuals who likewise didn’t want to see the annulment of the marriage and who go to great lengths in making sure that this will not come to pass.
Nordin has crafted two lovable and charming characters that continually portray sincere sentiments that draw her readers in. Moreover, each page is filled with little details that resonate with meaning pertaining to the understanding of true love, respect, good character, hornable living, consideration, honesty, loyalty, empathy, and compassion that all make for a loving and lasting marital relationship.
In essence, this playful and tender story is easy to visualize, so full of uncomplicated discourse as well as a great deal of comedy resembling the wild exuberance of clowns, particularly the wedding reception and the novel’s last scenes.

DANTE'S LADYTAMELA QUIJAS
Contemporary Romance
Rating: 4 Cups out of possible 5 Cups

It is the year 1840 when the Earl of Ravensmoor's death becomes imminent. Many regrets flash through his mind, but the foremost one is regarding his dear sweet Kaitlyn. He had fallen in love with a maid in his youth, but due to his station in life, was unable to follow his heart. Vowing to find her soul, he extracts a promise from his grandson. Somewhere, somehow, in some time, his Kaitlyn's soul will be found. With the promise agreed upon, the earl finally takes his last breath.
Over a century later in the present, Leslie Dante Jonathan Burroughs, Earl of Ravensmoor and owner of BAI, LTD, continues his ancestor's search. One trusted relative from each descendant was given the task of finding Kaitlyn's soul. He is the last Earl of Ravensmoor and the search must be completed, or her soul may never be found. Aided only with the story passed down by word of mouth and a beautiful portrait, Dante continues his search for Kaitlyn's soul.
When Dante travels from England to Phoenix, Arizona, he is in for the shock of his life. Working in one of his warehouses is the spitting image of Kaitlyn. From her beautiful green eyes to her luscious lips, Dante knows he must find some way to get her to England. For he knows as he stares into her eyes that he is looking into Kaitlyn's soul. Now he struggles with the knowledge that he is deeply attracted to a woman who was meant for his grandfather over a century ago.
“I speak of a love which happens betwixt two souls but once in an eternity.” Ms. Quijas has taken the concept of eternal soul mates and wrapped it into a sensual story of love throughout time. Witty, charming, and funny, Dante's Lady will hold you suspended throughout the book, waiting for the final scene to unfold. Seeing how many pages this book had made me feel intimidated. However, once I started, I found the flow of the wording and the storytelling to be quite smooth and easy to imagine. If you are a collector of books, Dante's Lady is a definite keeper!
Caution: This title contains steamy sex, graphic language and red-hot romance.
Danielle
Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance
In England, 1840, time was not on Nathan Burroughs side in this affaire, for death was already sinking his claws deep. There was little time left to him, but Lord Nathan Archimedes Christophe Dante Burroughs, the illustrious Fifteenth Earl of Ravensmoor was determined. What he knew was in question, what he hoped was not. As his life ended, he bequeathed a task to his grandson, his namesake and an honourable lad. A task that followed, cursed, and haunted the Earls of Ravensmoor to the present, and culminated in the current problem faced by Leslie Dante Jonathan Burroughs, Twenty first Earl of Ravensmoor, Dante to most of his friends.
Haunted by fantastic dreams since an early age, Dante never knew of the woman in the picture except from legend. Her face haunted his dreams, becoming disturbingly real in the past twenty-five years. Plagued with these nightly visions, he was driven to work harder, live life larger, and as a final result, sequester himself in Colinwood Manor. It was there where he faced the nights by prowling the halls, spending long hours in his study working or compiling the historical records his family guarded so assiduously. The pressure of the family curse hung over his head, he was the last of the Ravensmoor lineage, the last Earl. The entailed lands would pass to his daughter, the title and all it meant would be gone forever. That did not bother him much as he had made a rather successful life for himself and his daughter Anne in spite of everything. He took the family estates, turning some into hotels and museums, and letting them pay for their upkeep and taxes as he diligently brought the family’s ignored, languishing and faltering automobile factory into the modern age, increasing and expanding it at the same time.
The current Ravensmoor was such a success. Driven, certainly, cautious, surely, plagued and haunted beyond his tolerance, almost. Problems at a plant or a company-owned supplier were the only things that truly dragged Dante away from his home and home offices. The supplier in Phoenix was such a circumstance, and with a heavy heart, Dante undertook the trip. He was not prepared for the happenings, the explicit dreams which occurred when he reached the hotel. Wrenched from his bed, the dream tore into his psyche causing his heart to pound, his breaths to come in shattered gasps and pants. For some odd reason, he knew the woman was near, his destiny was at hand. Her name was Kate…Kathleen, and her face had been imprinted on his very soul. She was the exact replica of image in the formerly despised portrait, and he was going to meet her. He had finally reached her, touched his lady. He did not know where, but he knew the when was now. Fate had caught up to Ravensmoor, the destiny was here, the final meeting that would determine the fate of Ravensmoor, its Earls, and history itself was truly at hand…
Kathleen Bennett tucked her purse away as she listened to the office gossip telling her of the visit of the boss. Not totally understanding what Grace Sanchez, the inveterate office gossip, truly meant until told in no uncertain terms. None other than the owner of the company, Burton Automotive Industries, Limited was going to appear at the offices today, and she had not had a glimmer of notice. She knew that recalls had played havoc with the company, and she well knew her manager’s involvement in the reasons for the substandard parts sent out. IF the owner was coming, and if he knew about this problem with the company, she had no doubts it would be a reason for him to show up personally. It would be a day of reckoning far past due, yet it was not within her rights to blow any whistles. She had only been with the company for five years, and had neither the seniority nor the right to presume to be totally in the know about these things. She only knew what she observed, and she was not impressed with the way Moring ran his end of the operation, or the way he treated his staff and employees. Heavens knew she had born the brunt of his foul temper and bad humour these many years.
There were things she would have loved to tell the “Big Boss,” but his name was a mere scrawl beneath the company logo, a figment of everyone’s imagination as far as Kate could tell. The closest she had come to dealing directly with him was through his personal secretary, one Barbara McMillian, and she had given Kate no hint or idea as to his presence or what the man would be doing here, or going to say, so Grace’s news was relegated to the back of her mind. She soundly yet silently cursed her boss for his inattention, then again as he bellowed for her from his office. Last minute or not, she should have been given some warning by her erstwhile manager, Charles Moring. The past six months of reports were demanded, and Kate was going to do her best to see Moring got what the man undoubtedly requested. When she asked about why Charles Moring was upset, she learned that Grace was indeed telling her the truth. Dante Burroughs, the heretofore unknown and unseen money, power, and owner of and behind Burton Automotive was truly in town and coming to visit this factory/warehouse. Kate was totally unaware and totally unprepared for the man himself, and the repercussions he would have in her life…
Tamela Quijas gives us a story that is more than the run-of-the-mill contemporary romance. Touched with a hint of the supernatural, Dante’s Lady is a gripping tale of love spanning the centuries. Drawing Dante Burroughs and Kathleen Bennett together is not a smooth road to follow, but if the Fates are to have their way, and the Earldom is to continue, bringing them together is a must. Kathleen’s dreams have plagued her since she can remember. There is loneliness there, and a familiarity that she has passed off due to the time spent with these particular dreams. In a way they are familiar friends, yet in another way, they can turn heated and mysterious. She is not prepared for the change in the dream, the man who finally appears, and even more upset when her dreams give that man a face, only to be fulfilled in person. She is no more prepared for the reality of Dante Burroughs than she is for the firing of her boss right in front of her. Both events leave her shaking with uncertainty as emotions she was unaware she possessed so strongly surge to the fore. For Dante, meeting his Kate in such circumstances was somewhat of a shock, however, he had a lot longer to deal with the eventuality, having been prepared for this his whole life.
Dante’s Lady was only a legend, a dream, but two centuries of Ravensmoor Earls had awaited the return of Nathan’s love, and the time was now. There was only one recourse for the Earl of Ravensmoor, and that was to bring “Kaitlyn” home, in this incarnation, her name was Kate, and she was Dante’s to woo, to love, and to cherish. By hook or crook, he was going to return her to Colinwood, back to the home she loved, and into the arms of the man she was meant to have to begin with, himself. It was with great planning and careful execution he laid his loving trap, only to be foiled by her very nature. So now the fate of the Earl of Ravensmoor is held in her hands, and it is up to Kate. Can she forgive, and love, and fulfill her destiny, or will she run away, and not face what fate and love have to show her, the blessings they have to bestow upon her in both heart and mind? If you want to take a wonderful journey with a cast of enchanting characters, then Dante’s Lady is a must buy for you.
It is available now from Hearts on Fire Books, and I know Dante’s Lady will not disappoint you.

In 1840 Nathan Burroughs, Duke of Ravensmoor faces his imminent death. He reflects upon his life and loves. And charges his grandson Nathan, and all his descendents, with looking for the love he lost 50+ years ago, Kaitlyn Burnett, until she returns to Colinswood, the family manor.
200 years after Kaitlyn leaves Nathans life, and 160 years after his death, the descendents have continually looked for Kaitlyn to return. Dante Burroughs is the current Duke of Ravensmoor, and CEO and owner of Burton Automotive Industries, INC. and has been dreaming of a woman who looks very much like Kaitlyn Burnett. Her name is Kathleen “Kate” Bennett and she’s a secretary at the Phoenix plant of Burton Automotive Industries, INC. When these two meet the family “curse” that Dante has been living with becomes something he thinks he can finally break. Not to mention he finally has someone he can truly love. Are these two the reincarnated souls of Kaitlyn and Nathan?
This is a wonderful work by Ms. Quijas and was well worth the read. I felt for Dante and Kate and the journey’s they both had to take to get to where they could be fully honest with each other. All the characters are full of faults and foibles and good points and bad points, and are easy to identify with. The plot will keep you guessing and trying to figure everything out till the end when all is revealed. You’ll be thrilled with the happily ever after these two get in spite of all the obstacles in their way.
Oh, and the sex is pretty smoking hot too.

MR Review Fueled by Instinct by Rebecca A Savage
4 out of 5 StarsJ
FBI agent Devin Elizabeth Ladue wants revenge and justice for the murder of her parents and she is determined to see that she gets it no matter what the cost. Lane Eric Steelman is a journalist and witnessed the gruesome murder of Devin's parents. Devin plans to keep Lane alive long enough to give his testimony at the trial of the rich and influential men that are responsible for the murders. But while she is protecting him, they have also decided to try and draw out a mole in the FBI that is involved in the complicated plot. Devin wants everyone involved to go down! The only problem is neither Devin nor Lane expected the incredible chemistry between them personally. Can they stay focused on the job?

Fueled By Instinct is a very good, FBI thriller and romantic suspense all rolled into one exciting read! The sexual tension between Devin and Lane just adds to the readers heightened senses as they follow the progress of the story. There is treachery, greed, and danger surrounding the couple while they try to remain alive for Lane to testify and fight their attraction to one another. This is a bad time for any kind of relationship and they can’t possibly have a future. Devin is married to her job and Lane will probably be on the run from the mob for the rest of his life even if they do get the convictions. No one bests the mob and walks away unscathed.

Ms. Savage grabbed my attention, emotions, and pulse rate at the very beginning and sent me for an exciting ride through this story! If you have never read anything by Ms. Savage, don’t delay any longer; this story is a great place to start. If you are already a fan of Ms. Savage’s work, you don’t want to miss adding Fueled By Instinct to your list of titles.

The Romance Studio Review: Rene Celeste Ladue is a professional assassin for a top secret CIA program. Someone has discovered who she is and has threatened to kill her family if she doesn’t murder the living ex Presidents of the US, the current President, and the top running candidate in the up coming elections. No one messes with Rene’s family and lives; who ever this mysterious person is they just made a fatal mistake! Rene works alone but for this task she must have help and she has selected Hunter Orion Keller a top Secret Service Agent. Can Rene and Hunter find away to trick the blackmailer, find him, and remove him without anyone else getting hurt? Can they also work around the incredible chemistry they have together long enough to get the job done?
Cloaked in Assassination is a sequel to Fueled by Instinct which started Rebecca Savage’s series about the Ladue sisters. The Books can be read stand alone as each sister’s story is separate and not dependent on things you learned from the other. The other two sisters make do make and appearance in the story and I prefer to read series in order so I was glad I had read Fueled by Instinct first.
I really like the Ladue sister’s. They are completely loyal to their family and their country, they are tough and trained, and they are determined to succeed. Rene is obsessed with finding whoever is trying to blackmail her not only because they threatened her family but what they want done is treason. Rene gets a whole lot more than she bargained for when she chooses Hunter to help her with this job. Rene doesn’t want a man but if she were to look for one, Hunter is exactly what she’d want. He is honest, trustworthy, a leader, and as patriotic as she is. And Hunter has a fiercely loyal team to call on with more skills then Rene had imagined. The mission is dangerous, the team is talented, and the mad man is highly placed someplace in the government so the action is thrilling and intense. If you want an action packed, romantic suspense story, this one will not disappoint!
